BORGES KARATE JIU-JITSU
192 ANAWAN ST FALL RIVER, MA
The school of Borges Karate Jiu-Jitsu was started in 1995 by Sensei J.
Borges, a student of  Almeida.  At the time, Sensei Borges only
accepted three students.  The class he taught was brutal, very
demanding, old school karate.  Peter, Duane, and Rick were the three
original students.  These students became a force to reckon with.
As years passed, Sensei J. Borges was asked if he would accept more
students. It took a while to convince Sensei J. Borges, but he decided
to give it a try.  He started to teach all ages, from minors to adults, some
older than him.  There were only two classes a week that Sensei
Borges taught, because he still trained under Master John Almeida
three nights a week and competed in point tournaments, kickboxing,
and mixed martial arts.
Today, Sensei Borges says that what he teaches is what he has
experienced in life.  Old and new students who train under Sensei
Borges learn more than how to fight.  They learn how to walk through
this world with confidence, no matter what they do in life, may it be
work, school, or just doing every day tasks.
We all need peace in our lives, no matter where it comes from.
Sensei Borges teaches what he knows from the heart and his students
learn through life experiences, not just blocks, kicks and punches.
One might say that he provides his students with the tools that prepare
them to deal with whatever life throws at them whether it be with
knowledge, or blocks, kicks and punches.  He teaches his students to
always remember:  "You learn to fight so you do not have to fight."
